In my case I have multiple domains that I need to have contact e-mail addresses for. All you need is a basic subscription to Office 365 for Business, which is $5 / month / user of which we will only need 1 unless of course you have more than one physical person that you need an e-mail for. What follows is a step by step guide for getting this to work.
So I found a solution that partially worked and perfected it. I started doing some research online and found a few solutions but they all seemed cumbersome to setup as well as maintain. However, I hit a road block and that is while it works perfectly well for receiving messages to those aliases (you can even create mail rules to filter these out to specific folders to keep things organized) – I was unable to send e-mails from these aliases.
OUTLOOK SEND EMAIL AS ALIAS LICENSE
When you select this address, your emails will actually be sent out with your alias and not “on behalf of”.So I recently had the idea that I could use Office 365 for all of my domains for e-mail hosting and only pay for a single user license subscription by adding all of the domains and then creating aliases under the single user mailbox for the additional domains. Once you’ve added the account in Outlook, the address will show above the first line in the From dropdown list. For this, you must use the SMTP server settings of the provider hosting the email address. To still be able to send as such an alias, you can add a Send Only POP3 account for the alias in Outlook. This is probably not what you want but unfortunately, doesn’t allow you to send from these external aliases since it doesn’t comply with common email security standards and methods such as SPF. When you select the address with the custom domain and send from it, the message will arrive in the following format įrom: Robert Sparnaaij on behalf of Robert Sparnaaij When you have added an alias to your account from another domain, such as your own domain or from Gmail or Yahoo, then this email address will also show in the dropdown list but you can’t actually send from it. The alias will show up in your From field and you can send emails from within Outlook as well. Sending from a custom domain ( Premium)Īn alias of a custom domain that has been added via Premium also behaves as a native alias.
Note: If you don’t see the From field, you can enable it by selecting the Options tab when composing a new email. You can send from an alias address by selecting it from the From button. You only need to do this once per alias Outlook will then keep them in the From list. When you are using Outlook 2010, your aliases won’t be listed in the From dropdown button but you can add them manually by using the “Other Email Address…” option.
